The Registered Clinical Counsellor title is granted to those who have committed to the lengthy, intense and heavily involved training from accredited, established and recognized institutions. A Registered Clinical Counsellor is a professional designation. While an unregulated profession at present in the province of British Columbia, belonging to the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) maintains standards necessary to ensure ethical, competent, and professional services are provided.
Arrive on time, ensure you have access to a private space and a strong internet connection and be free of distraction as much as possible should you desire virtual sessions. Being as open and honest as possible will assist in getting the most out of your appointment and giving yourself a little time after our session to process what may have come up for you is always recommended.
Great question! Confidentiality is paramount in order to achieve the level of comfort necessary to explore potentially uncomfortable topics or emotions. Without your written permission anything spoken of during our session cannot be shared. As with all registered therapists however, your safety is our top priority. As such, confidentiality becomes second priority in the case of any of the following situations:
While your confidentiality is paramount, when conducting sessions virtually, it is important to be aware of the greater risk to a potential breach in confidentiality. So as to lessen such a risk and comply with the standards of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of Canada in addition to those of our Provincial regulatory body (British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors), a secure platform will be used for each session.
Each session is 50 minutes long and costs $150 plus GST. If you so desire however, 80 minute sessions are also available upon request.
We don’t offer direct billing but will happily provide you with a receipt after each session that can be submitted to your insurance provider, should you have coverage.
Of course you can! Just make sure you do so outside of our 48 business hour window so as to avoid payment of the late cancellation (full session fee).
You are welcome to use email communication for the purposes of booking appointments. It is best to save your thoughts or questions for our sessions. Should you find yourself in a moment of crisis however and need immediate support please call the help or crisis lines, 911 or go to the emergency department at your nearest hospital.
